Cleethorpes beach is the reason people have been coming to this stretch of the Lincolnshire coast for well over a hundred years. More than a mile of sand, backed by a promenade of amusements, ice cream stalls and the kind of easy, unpretentious seafront that doesn’t try too hard.
At low tide the beach opens right out and there’s proper space to stretch — good for early morning walks before the day starts, or a slow afternoon with the kids. The donkeys still come out in season. The Pier Amusements are still there. It hasn’t changed much, and that’s the point.
If you’re staying for a working week rather than a holiday, the beach is worth a thirty-minute evening walk just to decompress. The Humber Estuary catches the light differently depending on the time of day — early morning and golden hour are both worth the effort.
Parking runs along the seafront and fills up fast on school holidays. Go mid-week or early in the morning if you want it quiet. From most Knightly Stays homes, the beach is under ten minutes on foot.
