The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway has been running along the seafront since 1948 and it shows no signs of stopping. A proper 15-inch gauge line, operated by volunteers with real dedication, running a mix of steam and diesel locomotives between Kingsway and Lakeside.
The journey is about a mile each way. Short enough that children don’t lose interest, slow enough that you actually see the sea. It’s not a novelty ride — the stock is maintained carefully, the timetable is reliable, and the people who run it clearly love it.
For families, it’s an easy hour without a screen in sight. For contractors who’ve spent the week on a site, it’s an oddly pleasant way to spend a Sunday morning. The kind of experience you wouldn’t know to look for unless someone told you.
